Emerging from academic research on marine plastic pollution on the Isle of Lewis, Hebridean Coastal Stories (HCS) was established as a socio-ecological storytelling project to amplify Hebridean voices. Through interdisciplinary research, storytelling, and community engagement, HCS explores how plastic pollution impacts communities across the Hebrides.

HCS is guided by innovative research exploring the social, ecological, and cultural impacts of marine plastic pollution on Scottish island communities.

Compelling storytelling and science communication brings diverse audiences together to connect with the socio-cultural resilience of the Hebrides.

By fostering vibrant community events and dialogues, HCS connects stakeholders to the urgent challenge of plastic pollution and empowers collective action.
